Student Employee of the Year  (SEOTY) Celebration and a List of Nominees

This is the first year our campus has held a comprehensive acknowledgement of student employees. Students employed by the university (1350), the AS (630), and Research Foundation (590) are eligible for nomination. SEOTY recognizes student employees for their outstanding contribution to the university in terms of reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, uniqueness of contribution, and community and campus service.

For 2007-2008, student supervisor's and department personnel submitted nominations for 25 student employees (see below for names and info on nominees. All of the nominee's were recognized during the ceremony. Three students, Yuridia Jimenez, Justin Gonder, and Ryan Swetavage receiving special recognition for their contributions to their respective departments as student employees.

The overall winner, Taylor Bass, is a senior from Newcastle, CA and he is a Business major with an emphasis in management. Taylor Bass was recognized for his outstanding contribution and work involving the Greendance Film Festival (http://www.greendancefilmfest.org/). Taylor's efforts resulted in approximately $10,000 in donations for the festival which involved over 30 high schools and submission of over 70 films for the juried competition. Taylor also started the Social Entrepreneurs Emerging with new Direction (SEED), which is a student entrepreneurship organization.
