Student Services Center Wins Award

California State University, Chico’s new Student Services Center has received the Best of 2008 Higher Education Award of Merit by California Construction magazine. The four-story, 120,000 square-foot building, which opened this summer, was designed by BAR Architects and built by Turner Construction.

The Student Services Center was built following environmentally conscious standards established by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a program by the U.S. Green Building Council. The University is currently seeking LEED-Gold certification for the building, which would be one of the first state-funded construction projects in the CSU with that honor.

The statewide California Construction competition annually recognizes construction and design excellence throughout California.
