GET THE SCOOP ON OFFICE SUSTAINABILITY

Student consultants are now available to help staff and faculty members develop more sustainable work habits through SCOOP (sustainable consultation of office practices). Consultations are free. Call SCOOP at x4335 to schedule an appointment.

A SAFE PLACE ON CAMPUS

Lori Beth Way, Political Science, has received a three-year grant from the Department of Justice to open Safe Place, where victims of sexual assault can receive services. The center will be run by alum Dawn Frank, violence prevention response coordinator, and is in Siskiyou Hall, Room 115. Safe Place will officially open in mid-February, but students are welcome to visit or call immediately, x3030.

RESIDENCE HALL PROGRAMS RECEIVE NATIONAL HONORS

University Housing and Food Service was given two national awards last fall for its residence hall programs. The residence hall program board, Prime Time Productions, was awarded the National Social Program for the month of October by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls for a “Top Chef” competition. Prime Time Productions was also awarded the Outstanding Multicultural Program by the National Association of Campus Activities in November at a regional conference in Ontario, Calif. The award was given for participation in last spring’s National Day of Silence, in which more than 100 students living in the campus residence halls pledged to emphasize the silence that surrounds violence against those who identify themselves as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.

UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT WINS TWO CASE AWARDS

CSU, Chico won two top awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) regional conference in San Francisco Dec. 8, one for a CSU, Chico College of Humanities and Fine Arts Annual Fund brochure, and one for the logo and identity program for the 2007 North State Road Trip. The Annual Fund brochure was conceived and produced by College of Humanities and Fine Arts Advancement Director Ann Prater and designed by student Robert Ortegon, with photography by Jeff Teeter, Instructional Media Center. The North State Road Trip logo and materials were designed by Creative Director Alan Rellaford.
