National Honors for CSU, Chico

CSU, Chico is ranked sixth among master’s level public universities in the Western United States in the 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” from U.S. News & World Report magazine.

The master’s level category U.S. News & World Report uses includes universities that offer undergraduate and master’s programs, but few doctoral programs. The magazine rated 572 universities in four geographic regions in this category.

CSU, Chico has made the list of the top 10 public Western universities every year since 1998. The University was ranked ninth on the list in 2009 and sixth in 2008. Schools ranked above CSU, Chico are Cal Poly, SLO (1); New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology; Western Washington University; CSU, Long Beach; and Evergreen State College. CSU, Chico is tied in the sixth spot with the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

The rankings of colleges and universities and the criteria by which they are ranked are available in the U.S. News & World Report magazine and at its Web site, www.usnews.com.

In another honor for CSU, Chico, the University is ranked among the top 100 by Forbes in its “America’s Best Public Colleges” feature in this month’s edition of the business magazine.

Forbes ranked the country’s top 100 public colleges and universities using criteria including students’ opinions, graduation rates, and indicators of post-graduation success.

CSU, Chico placed 97 in the top 100, just above State University of New York, Albany; University of Maryland, College Park; and University of Connecticut, respectively.
