CSU, Chico students participated in the 10th annual Up ’til Dawn St. Jude fundraiser Monday night, Nov. 8. This year’s luau-themed event featured music, dancing, raffles with prizes, including a trip to Hawaii and a laptop. The more than 2,200 participants sent roughly 38,000 letters soliciting donations from their friends, families, and communities for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Coordinators of the event were honored to have six St. Jude staff members and patient Elizabeth Lobato attend the event. This was Elizabeth’s fourth visit to Chico for the fundraiser. Chico State is the current and four-time defending national champion of Up ’til Dawn. As of Dec. 6, $87,750 had been raised from this year’s event, and Chico State Up ’til Dawn coordinators hope to raise more than $250,00 this year.
