Staff Suggestion and Blood Donor Honors

Cutting down on paper was Roxie Downie's goal, an idea which garnered her the biannual Staff Suggestion Award and $100 at the December 14 Staff Council meeting.

Downie, Upward Bound, suggested a revision of the campus mailing lists so that a single flyer or memo could be mailed to a department designee instead of all the individuals within the department. Her suggestion, which would cut down on costly duplication and paper waste, was forwarded to University Printing Services.

Blood donor recognition certificates were given to Mike Bates, Facilities Management and Services, with 96 units; Connie Cox, Academic Publications, with 87 units; and Chuck Worth, Institutional Research, with 84 units (cumulative units through June 30, 1999). Two tickets to a university event of choice were also presented to each winner.

Past recipients include Joe Covert and Harry Filbert, both from Facilities Management, with over 100 cumulative units donated during the campuswide blood drives. -- CL
