The "Discover Northern California" project described in the November 4, 1999, issue of Inside Chico State was even more interdisciplinary than was suggested.
Four students from the Department of Communication Design, Janet Brockman, Heather Behrmann, Joe Colombo, and Darren Knowles, created preliminary poster designs. The same design team expanded Janet's winning design to complete the four-poster series. Nikki Hertl, Recreation and Parks Management, managed the project, Adam Henderson, Geography and Planning, created the detailed map on each poster, and Tao Stadler, English, wrote the captions for the public land sites photos.
Alan Rellaford, Graphic Design, Casey Huff, University Publications, Eugenie Rovai, Geography and Planning, and I assisted the students. Tim Smith from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) served as the California Roundtable on Recreation, Parks, and Tourism (CRRPT) liaison to the BLM-funded and CRRPT-sponsored project. Foundation staff and the PGL team also helped the team create the posters that now hang in the CalTrans safety roadside rest areas.
