Kathryn Lewis and Claudia Rawlins, Management, had their paper "Performance Appraisal of Knowledge Workers: Effectiveness is in the Eye of the Beholder" accepted for publication in the Proceedings of the International Applied Business Research Conference. They will present the paper at the annual meeting in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, in March.
Turhon Murad, Anthropology, had his presentation to the fifty-first annual meeting of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in Reno, Nevada, in February accepted for publication in their Proceedings, Vol. 6. The paper "Lucy Near the Skyway with Bite Marks: A Seeming Unending Taphonomic Tale" is about a 1988 Butte County death.
David Swanson, Physical Education and Exercise Science, coauthored "The Effect of Pynogenol on Endurance" and "Lipid Peroxides and the Relation to HDL in Older Exercisers," both published in Abstracts, Southwest Chapter American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting. His paper on "The Effects of Upright Lower Body Negative Pressure Cycle Ergometry Training on VO2 Max and Endurance," presented at the Second International Convention of the Mars Society in Colorado, in August, is accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings.
Stuart VanAuken, Finance and Marketing, coauthored "A Comparative Analysis of Content Value of Courses in an MIS Program: An Alumni Evaluation" that was accepted for presentation and publication in the refereed Proceedings of the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute Annual Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in March.
George Wright, Political Science, had "The Political Economy of Sport: Impact of Globalization" published in the July issue of New Political Economy and "Globalization and Sport" published in the OctoberNovember issue of the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Review.
Charles Nelson, Geographical Information Center, received $54,963 from the Cantara Trustee Council through the California Department of Fish and Game. The CSU, Chico Research Foundation will produce and provide multiple presentations, displays, and interactive exhibits for community events throughout Siskiyou and Shasta Counties, including Kids' Fishing Day, the Siskiyou County Fair, and the Nor-Cal Boat and Sports Show.
Eddie Bankston, University Housing and Food Service, has been elected as the new Western District Representative for the Association of College and University Housing-International.
Jon Hooper, Recreation and Parks Management, taught a week-long Natural Resources Communication workshop for natural resource managers from California and Montana in January.
Madeline Keaveny, Communication Arts and Sciences, gave two presentations at the Universidad Internacional de La Paz in La Paz, Mexico, in January: "Entrevista Internacional entre Culturas, y Genero Sobre Prejuicios y Estereotipos en la Comunicacion" for students in English, tourism, and law and "Experiencias Académicas de los Estudios de la Comunicación" for students and the public.
Ela Thurgood, English, presented a paper titled "An Optimality Theory Approach to Systems in Conflict: Baba Malay Word Stress" at the joint conference of the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics and the Linguistics Society of America in Chicago, Illinois, in January.
