David Kistner, Biological Sciences, published "A New Genus and Species of a Queen Mimicking Termitophile from Brazil (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae)" in Sociobiology, Vol. 35, No. 1, 2000.
Jim Morgan, Management, had "Creating Learning Outcomes in the General Education Subject Areas for the Baccalaureate Graduate Using a Multi-Campus Team Structure" published in Continuous Improvement Monitor, Vol. 1, No. 4., at http://llanes.panam.edu/journal. He also had "Wrongfully Discharged Employees See Green in California" published in Proceedings for the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business in August and "Educating the Faculty: A Seminar for Faculty Who Teach First-Time Freshmen" published in the Proceedings of the Sixth National Conference on Students in Transition in St. Louis, Illinois, in November.
James M. Postma, Chemistry, coauthored the fifth edition of Chemistry in the Laboratory published by W.H. Freeman and Company.
Stuart VanAuken, Finance and Marketing, coauthored "A Comparative Analysis of Content Value of Courses in an MIS Program: An Alumni Evaluation" that was accepted for presentation and publication in the refereed Proceedings of the Northeast Division Sciences Institute Annual Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in March.
David Daley, College of Agriculture, received $5,000 from the Regents of the University of California to investigate new concepts for using rice straw as cattle feed.
Kathryn Gould-Anderson, Education Services Center, received $4,881 from the Glenn County Office of Education to evaluate Phases I and II of their Reading Connections project.
Robert Main, Communication Design, received $1,610 from the California Department of Corrections to conduct a one-day workshop for the department on desktop publishing.
Jennifer Rotnem, College of Natural Sciences, received $5,000 from the Parks and Preserves Foundation to write up to three grant proposals.
David Swanson, Physical Education and Exercise Science, received $2,716 from the Lassen Foundation for Grape Seed Extract and Fat Absorption project.
Sarah Blakeslee and Kris Trefts, Library Instruction Program, presented "Positive Library Experiences: Fostering Information Literacy through Faculty/Librarian Partnerships" at the First-Year Experience Conference-West in San Francisco in January.
Chet Cotton, Jack McKenna, Management, and Stuart VanAuken, Finance and Marketing, presented their paper "Merit Pay, Goal Setting, and Performance Outcomes in a Public Higher Education Context" at the annual meeting of the Southern Management Association in Atlanta, Georgia, in October.
John Fisher, Health and Community Services, had his presentation "Chewers Choice: An Interactive Computer Mediated Intervention for Smokeless Tobacco" accepted at the twenty-first annual meeting of the Society for Behavioral Medicine at the Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee, April 5-8.
Jim Morgan, Management, presented "Designing Collaborative Leadership Programs that Span the Curriculum and Co-Curriculum" at the annual meeting of the International Leadership Association in October.
George Wright, Political Science, presented "United States Foreign Policy: Parallels between Angola and Yugoslavia" at the International War Crimes Tribunal Hearing on the U.S./NATO war against Yugoslavia with panelists Ramsey Clark, Gloria La Riva, and Michael Parenti, in San Francisco in November.
