Campus Nature Guide Revised
Campus Creekside Nature Walk, a guide to the nature walk along Big Chico Creek on campus, has been updated by Wes Dempsey and Paul Maslin, Department of Biology. The revised booklet reflects changes in the creek plant communities, which have resulted from restoration efforts.
The biology honor society, Omicron Theta Epsilon, developed the nature walk many years ago. They set in place the numbered posts and developed an educational brochure to guide campus visitors along the walk.
The brochure is available at the Bidwell Mansion, CSU, Chico Alumni Association, Biology Office, Omicron, and is included in the introductory biology laboratory manual. The Provost's Office provided CELT funds to pay for printing the revised brochure.
Rob Schlising, Biological Sciences, and Caroline Warren, M. S. in Botany, 1998, have produced a CD for Macintosh and PC called "Vernal Pool Plants of the Northern Sacramento Valley," with a faculty research grant.
Copies are available gratis to interested school teachers in the area. The CD is also available as Number 10 in the series "Studies from the Herbarium, CSU, Chico."
The leadership program offers an opportunity for faculty, staff, and middle-managers to develop projects which relate to the continued implementation of the strategic plan and to work outside of their existing unit, division, or college.
Applications should be submitted to the President's Office by April 23, 2000. For more information call x5201.
