De-lovely! De-licious! De-liteful!
Cole Porter's Anything Goes, a pull-out-all-the-stops spring musical, will be presented May 3-6 at 7:30 p.m. and May 7 at 2 p.m. in Laxson Auditorium. An on-stage orchestra, beautifully ornamented costumes, grand-scale dance numbers, and a steamy, art deco-style stage are reminiscent of the dashing, MGM-style musicals of the 1930s. Set aboard the luxury liner the S.S. American, Anything Goes is a classic boy-meets-girl love story, full of funny, odd-ball characters. Memorable songs include such Porter classics as "Friendship," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "It's De-Lovely," "Blow, Gabriel, Blow," and the signature tune, "Anything Goes." Timothy Herman, Theatre Arts, will direct a cast of more than twenty-eight CSU, Chico students and community members. "The comedy and the laughs should come because the show is very sophisticated and very stylish," said Herman. "Then you see very rich, very classy, and very refined people running around like a bunch of nuts." See Calendar for details. -- UPE
