Community Partnership Brings Gorbachev to ChicoFor the third consecutive year, CSU, Chico has partnered with AT&T, Newstalk 1290 KPAY Radio, and Chico Performances to bring high profile speakers to the North Valley. Gorbachev is the fifth Nobel Peace Prize winner brought to Chico in the last three years. President Manuel A. Esteban said, "Bringing speakers of such stature to Chico is good for the university, and it is good for the community. We couldn't do it without the community's help." AT&T has donated $12,000 to help underwrite the expenses of Gorbachev's visit. Lisa DeLaby, public relations manager, AT&T, said, "I'm proud of the commitments that AT&T has made in the community to help bring world-renowned speakers such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres to the area." Other community sponsors of Gorbachev's visit include The Group, PG&E, Financial Network, the City of Chico, and Butte College.
