Michael Magliari, History, had his review of Judson Grenier's Golden Odyssey: John Stroud Houston, California's First Controller and the Origins of State Government published in the autumn 2000 issue of Western Historical Quarterly.
Tibor Banathy, University Farm, received $19,876 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IV for the Wastewater Management and Research Center to provide workshop support for regulatory personnel throughout California.
Jim Fletcher and Joyce Letner, Survey Research Center, received $12,075 from the Shasta County Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council to conduct a telephone survey and prepare a report for the Shasta Lake City Partnership for Healthy Children.
Richard Holman, Construction Management, received $69,750 from the California Department of Water Resources Urban Streams Program to study erosion, flood control, and water quality on Brickyard Creek in Red Bluff.
Lucia Ledwith, Northeast Archaeological Information Center, received $30,000 from the Pacific Legacy and $4,325 from Sierra Pacific Industries to conduct archaeological record searches.
Beverly Marcum, Biological Sciences, received $179,938 from the University of California Office of the President to provide inservice workshops for inland Northern California science teachers.
Stacy Schaefer, Anthropology, presented her paper "Studies of the Peyote Cactus in the Borderlands: A Progress Report" at the sixth annual conference of the Center for Big Bend Studies at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, in October. She also presented an invited paper "Creatividad y el Arte Ind’gena Inspirado por el Peyote, Planta Sagrada de los Huicholes y la Iglesia Nativa Norteamericana" at the IV Jornadas Internacionales: Estados Modificados de Consciencia, Creatividad y Arte sponsored by the Societat d'Etnopsicolog’a Aplicada I Estudis Cognitius, Barcelona, Spain, in April.
Ela Thurgood, English, presented "Baba Malay Word Stress in Optimality Theory: A Look at Language Shift" at the International Linguistic Association at Georgetown University in April.
