Blood Drive has Holiday Flair
Blood donors will be giving and receiving at a special campus blood drive sponsored by Staff Council Wednesday, December 13. As part of North Valley Blood Center's "Twelve Days of Christmas" promotion, donors will receive T-shirts and gift certificates.
The blood drive will take place from noon to 4 pm in Selvester's. A mobile donation unit may also be parked north of Meriam Library.
KLRS-FM, "Colors" 92.7, is expected to do a live remote broadcast from the blood drive location. The T-shirts being given to donors read, "I gave to a good Claus." The ice cream is being donated by Baskin-Robbins, and sandwich certificates by 32nd Street Subs.
Mitzy Edgecomb, donor services director for the Blood Center, said the center has an ambitious goal of 75 pints for next week's campus blood drive. "These weeks can be very difficult to get people to come in and donate," she said. "At the same time, there is more need for blood this time of year."Debbie Sandoz, Office of the Vice President for Business and Finance, said 44 pints of blood were donated at last month's campus blood drive. She is head of Staff Council's service projects committee, which oversees the monthly campus blood drives.
