Other Simulation and International
Consortium Grants
Roy Crosbie is the principle investigator for three other College of
Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology projects. The projects are
run by the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences with support from the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of
Computer Science.
International
Consortium for the Exchange of Engineering Students
The Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) has funded
the two U.S. partners, North Dakota State and CSU, Chico, in a consortium
of U.S., Canadian, and Mexican universities to exchange engineering students
among the three countries. The consortium includes the Canadian universities
of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and the Mexican Autonomous Universities
of Zacatecas and Yucatan.
International
Collaboration on Modeling and Simulation Graduate Degree
FIPSE granted $202,200 to Crosbie and ECST for their part in a consortium
of American and European universities, which will develop a collaborative
modeling and simulation graduate degree. While the degree will be primarily
Internet based, the funds will allow students to travel to another host
country for courses.
High-Level
Architecture Education Project
Crosbie and the McLeod Institute are completing the third year of a $100,000
high-level architecture (HLA) education project. HLA is a set of specifications
for computer software that was developed initially to enable the military
to put together complex training simulation scenarios of battles with
trainees located continents apart. The project developed course materials,
bibliography, and nonmilitary HLA examples that anyone can download from
the McLeod Institute Web site at www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~mcleod.
