CSU, Chico's Department of Theatre Arts once again presents the popular Donna Stone Breed Memorial Student - Directed One-acts April 19 - 22. All shows take place in Wismer Theatre and begin at 7:30 pm, except the Sunday afternoon matinee performance, which starts at 2 pm.

The Donna Stone Breed Memorial Student - Directed One-acts give advanced directing students in the department a chance to do it all -- select the play they want to bring to life on stage; audition actors; design scenery, costumes, and lighting; participate in the publicity process; and direct.

"All six One-acts are contemporary, cleverly written, and have great audience appeal," said Gail Holbrook, Theatre Arts faculty member and adviser to the student directors. "They are all comedic but also deal with important issues faced by our society. They are written by important playwrights of our time, and they have challenging roles for the student actors."

One-acts presented Thursday, April 19, and Saturday, April 21, include two works written by David Ives -- Time Flies, directed by JessLeanne Perry, and Words, Words, Words, directed by Eleanor DuBay, as well as Eric Bogosian's Bitter Sauce, directed by Joe Minissale.

One-acts presented Friday, April 20, and Sunday, April 22, include Tom Sheppard and Clive Exton's The Boundary, directed by Vanessa Hudson; Louis Valdez's Los Vendidos, directed by Genevieve M - Pena; and Mary Gallagher's Chocolate Cake, directed by Julie Cosenza.

Proceeds from the One-acts support the Donna Stone Breed Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to Theatre Arts majors who have been active in the theatre program while maintaining an acceptable grade point average.
