Eileen Guiffre Cotton, retired, Education, had Book2Web published by Wright Group Publishing in 2001.

Robert Cottrell, History, had The Best Pitcher in Baseball: Rube Foster, Negro League Giant published by the New York University Press in 2001. Correction: Cottrell’s Roger Nash Baldwin and the American Civil Liberties Union was published by Columbia University Press.

Richard Davis and Shekhar Misra, Finance and Marketing, had “A Gap Analysis Approach to Marketing Curriculum Assessment: A Study of Skills and Knowledge” accepted for publication in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Marketing Education.

Susan Gardner, Management, had “E-Negotiating: An Exploration of Using the Web for Labor Contract Negotiations” accepted for publication in Educating Knowledge Workers for Corporate Leadership in 2002.

Troy Jollimore, Philosophy, had Friendship and Agent-Relative Morality published by Garland Publishing in 2001.

Jeffery Livingston, History, had Swallowed by Globalism: John M. Vorys and American Foreign Policy published by the University Press of America in 2001.

Magda Mueller, Foreign Languages and Literatures, edited German Feminist Writings, published by The Continuum International Publishing Group in 2001.
Sarah Pike, Religious Studies, had Earthly Bodies, Magical Selves: Contemporary Pagans and the Search for Community published by the University of California Press in 2001.

Claudia Rawlins, Management, had “Looking for Indicators of High Performance Teams in GSS: An Exploratory Field Study” accepted for publication in Educating Knowledge Workers for Corporate Leadership in 2002.

Kingsley Stern, retired, Biological Sciences, had Introductory Plant Biology published by the Westview Press in 2001.

Grants and Contracts

David L. Brown, Geosciences, received $2,520 from Kressey and Associates to determine the accuracy of taxonomic identification and organism counts in water samples.

Melody Callan, Computer Science, Larry Wear, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Bruce Yoakum, Construction Management, received $37,362 from Spectra Physics for three CSU, Chico student interns.

Awards and Activities

Kenny Chan, Finance and Marketing, will serve on the ad hoc Editorial Review Board of the Journal of E-Business, http://www.
ecob.iup.edu/jeb.

Pamela Johnson, Management, received the Academy of Educational Leadership Teaching award at the Allied Academies of Management international conference in April.

Pamela Johnson and Susan Gardner, Management, received the 2001 Highly Commended Award for Excellence from the editor and editorial advisory board members of MCB University Press for their “Domestic Violence in the Workplace: Strategies for the Global Business Community,” published in Women in Management Review in 2000.

Ira Latour, professor emeritus, Art and Art History, had his photographs Self with 1945 Ansel Adams Portrait and Kicking Horse Edward Buie included in the Elder Arts Celebrations exhibition at the San Francisco Art Institute in August. The photographs will be on display in San Francisco State University’s Crucible Steel Gallery from October 16 to November 4.

Paul Lopez, Sociology, was offered a 2001-2002 fellowship by the Chicano Studies Center at UC Santa Barbara for his work on the bracero dynamics.

Bill McGinnis, Business and Finance, presented “Measuring Quality in Community Colleges” at the annual conference of the California Community College Trustees in June. He was elected vice president of the California Community College Trustees Association and appointed to the board of directors of the Community College League of California. \

Ray Watkins, Agricultural Teaching and Research Center, is chair of the 21st annual national Farm City Celebration that runs the first three weeks of November.
