Ya load 18 yards, and what do ya get? A cleaner north campus, south campus, and downtown! On Saturday, Sept. 29, about 300 Scour and Devour volunteers swept through these areas and filled six 18-yard containers with trash. They also planted flowers on the north side of the library and around OConnell, under the direction of groundskeeper Gary Willis. (Willis is pictured above with two student volunteers.) This is the fourth year for the event.
Its amazing what 300 people can do in a little over two and a half hours, said Don Sleeper, Facilities Management Services. I walked with 10 students down the bike path by OConnell and over the bridge to W. Fourth St. We picked up 20 bags of trashclothes, bottles, food wrappers, you name it.
The city of Chico loaned the services of three trucks; North Valley Disposal loaned three dumpsters; and numerous other businesses and individuals contributed to the success of the cleanup and following barbecue.}
