Bakke and Project Directors Honored at Foundation Dinner
Bob Bakke, long-time
manager of the Development Unit in the Office of Sponsored Programs was
honored for his 22 years of service to CSU, Chico at the sixth annual
Research Foundation recognition dinner on Jan. 24. Bob Jackson, dean of
Graduate, International, and Sponsored Programs, praised Bakke during
a brief presentation, citing his work coaching faculty to
develop strong proposals, including encouraging them to write in the voice
of a grant proposal rather than in the jargon of their discipline. Jackson
also commended Bakke for his efforts in creating the Sacramento
Initiative, whereby Bakke developed contacts within state agencies
and matched them with those on campus who could provide a useful product
or service, resulting in many funded projects. Bakke now works as a full-time
consultant in the State Department of Education. Three project directors, also received awards. Richard Holman, Construction Management; Emilyn Sheffield, Recreation and Parks Management; and Charles Nelson, Geographical Information Center, each were recognized for their outstanding contributions as directors. |
