Thirty Managers Complete Supervisory Training
The Office of Faculty and Staff Assistance, in cooperation
with Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety, and the Student
Counseling Center, offers the program under the direction of Bev Ford.
The program was created, developed, and implemented following research
Ford completed in 1997. The results of the campuswide study (created to
address issues raised during the1996 WASC review) were used to design
a program to improve management skills. President Esteban and the Cabinet accepted the certification
program concept and, as of Dec. 2001, 190 employees had been enrolled,
and 63 had completed the program. Effective management helps to
increase the productivity of the departments, enhances job satisfaction,
increases employee morale, and minimizes liability and risk for supervisors
as well as for the university. It benefits all of us, said Ford. Kathleen McPartland |
