Sutter’s Last Stand Sutter Hall is history. Starting on March 5, Delta Oilfield, contractors, began demolishing the 30-year-old temporary building to the delight of a large crowd. By March 7, 2:04 pm, it was completely down. Numerous large dump trucks were brought in over the next several days to remove debris and bring in fill soil. Delta Oilfield is recycling all of the metal building components, concrete footings, and selected HVAC units from the roof. Facilities Management and Services had previously salvaged 16 HVAC units from the roof and removed selected interior doors and approximately five exterior door assemblies, along with all of the handicapped automatic door operators. Current plans for the area include some green space and bicycle parking. The future of this space will be evaluated once the area is cleared. |
