Loriann Maxwell Wins Staff Council Scholarship

Loriann Maxwell, administrative support coordinator, Public Affairs and Publications, is this year’s recipient of the Staff Council Scholarship worth $250 to use toward her education. Maxwell is a junior English major with plans to earn a single subject teaching credential. She is currently taking nine units and maintaining a high G.P.A. She has worked full time to support her family while her husband pursued a history degree and teaching credential from CSU, Chico. They have two children, Kim, 5; and Scott, 7.

“Trying to raise a family while going to school and working is challenging, but I know, in the end, it will be worth it,” said Maxwell. She has wanted to be a teacher since being inspired by her high school English teacher, Zack Kincheloe, at Chico High School. “His passion for his subject matter was contagious. I hope to be just as inspiring to my own students.”
