Monday, March 24:
“Consumer Education Day,” a presentation about union-operated
businesses and services. Free Speech Area, 10 am–1 pm. There will
be a free raffle of union products at noon.
Tuesday, March 25:
Video of a 1991 César Chávez speech. Trinity Hall 100 at
noon.
Wednesday, March 26:
Video of a broadcast television episode that dramatized a 2002 march to
support binding arbitration for farm workers. Trinity Hall 100 at noon.
Also, The Salt of the Earth, a black-listed union classic about the mine,
mill, and smelter worker’s strike of the 1950s. Trinity Hall 100
at 7 pm.
Thursday, March 27:
“The March for the Governor’s Signature”: a panel of
marchers will talk and show a video about their participation in the 165-mile
walk from Merced to Sacramento in Aug. 2002. Ayres Hall 120 at 4 pm. Also,
three short UFW documentaries about César Chávez and the
UFW trying to create safer working conditions and food. Trinity Hall 100
at 7 pm.
Friday, March 28:
“UFW Education Day.” Learn more about César Chávez,
Dolores Huerta, and the United Farm Workers. Free Speech Area, 10 am–2
pm. “Protest Songs of the Chicana/o Labor Movement,” a presentation
of songs of the UFW, FLOC, and other unions, such as “El Picket
Sign,” “We Shall Overcome,” “De Colores,”
and “Solidarity Forever.” Trinity Hall 100 at noon.
Sunday, March 30:
Annual César Chávez March in San Francisco. Limited transportation
provided from CSU, Chico campus. For more information, contact MEChA at
x4001. Also, César Chávez Volunteer Day, Gridley Migrant
Labor Camp, 1:30–5 pm, featuring Eva Mejia from the United Farm
Workers. Limited transportation provided from CSU, Chico campus. For more

Monday, March 31: Annual César Chávez Teach-Out
