History adjunct professor Ken Rose was asked to write an opinion piece for The Washington Post that appeared on Feb. 16 about the new security craze. Rose is the author of One Nation Underground: The Fallout Shelter in American Culture (New York University Press 2001).

Anthropology professor emerita Valene Smith had a review of her co-edited and co-authored Hosts and Guests Revisited: Tourism Issues of the 21st Century in Tourism Recreation Research, Vol. 27, No. 3, 2002.

Greg White, director of the Archeology Research Program, was interviewed by KOVR TV Channel 13 in Sacramento on Feb. 14 about the controversy over a book proposing that Chinese explorers were on the West Coast in the early 1940s.
