Project Learning Tree A workshop to assist educators
in teaching 7th through 12th graders about our solid waste dilemma. Cost:
$45 with 1 unit of course credit; free without course credit. Lunch will

worms, creepy crawlers, beautiful flowers, and a selection of organic
veggies grown at CSU, Chico’s compost display area. 11 am–2

Free Stuff and Eco-Consumer Information Day Reusable office materials
and information about being an environmentally aware consumer. 11 am–2

Thursday, April 17
Video: Exporting Harm: The High-Tech Trashing of Asia
This documentary illustrates how hazardous electronic waste is being exported
to China, Pakistan, and India from the United States. 10 am, noon, 1 pm;
BMU 304.
Electronic Waste Information Learn more about e-waste
and how to properly discard your computers, TVs, and other electronic
waste. 11 am–2 pm, Free Speech Area.
“Our Stolen Future” Dr. Pete Myers will discuss
synthetic chemicals that mimic natural hormones resulting in birth defects,
sexual abnormalities, and reproductive failures in wildlife as well as
humans. 7 pm, BMU Auditorium.
Friday, April 18
Creek Clean Up Bring gardening gloves and comfortable
shoes, and work as long as you like. For large groups, call x5033 ahead
of time. Lunch will be at noon. 10 am–1 pm, meet at Free Speech
Area.
Restoration Project Help remove exotic plants and restoration
native plants. Learn about native vegetation and gardening tips for your
own yard. 1 pm–3 pm, Free Speech Area.
Saturday, April 19
ECO-FEST 2003! A.S. Presents will host an array of bands,
and everyone is encouraged to speak during open-mike sessions between
band sets. Students who attended the Eugene Land Air and Water Conference
will also host informational tables. Noon–6 pm, Chico State rose
garden.
Sunday, April 20
Plant a Tree An opportunity to visit the Butte Creek
Ecological Preserve and plant a tree. Tools and trees will be provided.
Call x5033 for directions and further information about what to bring.
10 am–3 pm, Butte Creek Ecological Preserve at Honey Run.
Monday, April 21
Compost Demonstrations Compost bins will be set up where
you can add your fruit and vegetable leftovers. Students will answer questions
and give demonstrations. 11 am–2 pm, Free Speech Area.
John Muir’s Birthday Celebrate John Muir’s
birthday with free cake and conversation. Noon–1 pm, Free Speech
Area.

Eco-Information Day Learn about global warming, the Arboretum
Club, conservation efforts on Big Chico Creek, and other environmental
related issues. 10 am–3 pm, Free Speech Area.

Veggie Burger Feed For $3, you’ll get a veggie burger with
condiment; for $4, you’ll get a veggie burger, drink, and side salad.

Children’s Environmental Faire Educational booths,
a waste-free lunch contest, and a children’s environmental play.
