Publications
Duane Knudson, Physical Education and Exercise Science,
co-authored “Effect of Elastic Cord Towing on the Kinematics of
the Acceleration Phase of Sprinting,” published in the Journal
of Strength and Conditioning Research, Vol. 17, 2003.
James Matray, History, had East Asia and the United States:
An Encyclopedia of Relations Since 1784 published by Greenwood Press
in 2002. He also had a review of Kenneth Conboy and James Morrison’s
The CIA’s Secret War in Tibet published in the winter 2002
issue of History: Review of New Books, and a review of Robert
J. Myers’ Korea in the Cross Currents: A Century of Struggle
and the Crisis of Reunification published in the 2002 issue of Korean
Studies.
Laura Sederberg, Technology and Learning Program, had “10
Ways to Take the Fear out of E-Learning” published in College
Planning & Management, Feb. 2003.
Grants and Contracts
Herman Ellis, Student Activities Office, and Shauna
Quinn, Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center, received $55,873
from the CSU, Fresno Foundation to develop a student educational marketing
campaign about driving under the influence of alcohol.
Michelle Neyman, Biological Sciences, and Steve
Shive, Health and Community Service, received $25,000 from the
Shasta County Department of Public Health for their “Community-Based
Social Marketing Plan 02/03.”
Awards and Activities
Mike Boote, Dana Reedy, and Dane
Frazier, University Development and Advancement, presented workshops
at the Systems and Computer Technology Summit, a user conference for 5,700
people from 25 countries, in New Orleans, Louisiana, in March. Boote presented
“Web 4 Development,” Reedy presented “Contact Reports
on the Web,” and Frazier presented “Open Source Reporting
in HTML and Java.”
Holly Brunkal, Geosciences, presented “A Stratigraphic
Evaluation of the Tuscan Formation, Northern California” at the
99th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America Cordilleran Section
in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, in April.
Bill Post, Information Resources, and Kathy Fernandes,
Academic Technologies, presented “Eight Years on the Road: Are We
There Yet?” at the 2003 Pacific Regional Conference for the Society
for College and University Planning in San Jose in March.
Laura Sederberg, Technology and Learning Program, presented
“Implementing a Rubric for Online Instruction” at the Conference
for Academic Technology Staff at CSU, Chico in March.
Ray Watkins, Agricultural Teaching and Research Center,
was named Member of the Year by the Butte County Farm Bureau at their
annual meeting in February.
