While You Were Away... New Appointments and RetirementsMeredith Kelley, assistant director of operations for the Financial Aid Office at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, was named financial aid director at CSU, Chico. David Stephen, director of residence life and housing at the University of Akron, has been named the new director of University Housing and Food Service. He will replace John Lauer, associate director of University Housing and Food Service, who will continue in the position of interim director until Stephen begins his new post Dec. 1. Scott McNall began his assignment as interim president on July 1. He continues to serve as provost. Due to the upcoming retirement of Paul Moore, vice president for University Advancement and Student Affairs (see below), Jim Moon, associate vice president for student affairs, now also serves as acting vice president until a new vice president is selected. Paul Moore, vice president for University Advancement and Student Affairs, went on administrative sabbatical Aug. 15; he will retire later this year. Moore came to CSU, Chico in 1988. Dolly Moore-Solomon, Outstanding Staff Employee of the Year for 2000, retired in June. Moore-Solomon began working at CSU, Chico in 1975. Two well-known music professors who each taught at CSU, Chico for more than 30 years retired this summer -- Robert Bowman and David Rothe. |
