Tartuffe (unplugged)
We know what to expect from music labeled "unplugged" -- music stripped of superfluous production tricks, just bare bones acoustics. But what can we expect from an "unplugged" version of Molière's classic Tartuffe? "Many productions of Molière are expensively produced, high-style extravaganzas with 17th-century period costumes and Louis XIV décor," said director Bill Johnson, Theatre Arts. "We are 'unplugging' from many of those traditional production elements, making our production about the core essentials: characters, plot, humor, and extraordinary dialogue." Tartuffe (unplugged) will be presented in the spirit of a Molière-like traveling theatre troupe, Johnson said, using what they might find, afford, and carry from place to place if we were on the road. Tartuffe (unplugged) plays Nov. 11-16 in Wismer Theatre. For ticket information, see calendar. Lisa Kirk
