Italia Romantica—Feb. 12Oh those wondrous Italians, masters of the art of cooking and eating, launching a meal with antipasti, primi piatti, bolstered by hearty vino, meandering through secondi piatti, zuppa, insalata, pane, dolci, and winding down (when the candles are low and sputtering) with caffe. Buonissimo! Get a little of that enchanting Italian spirit at Italia Romantica, Thursday, Feb. 12, from 6 pm to 9 pm (della notte) in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium. Indulge in gourmet Italian cuisine (are there any words that tumble on the tongue more sensuously than parmigiano, gelato, formaggio, zabaglione?) while you enjoy musica from CSU, Chico's Jazz Express. They'll cover Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin favorites; Don Napoli will lead an accordion sing-along of Italian folk songs; and vocal groups Chico Chic and Sac Street Boys will also perform. This event is presented by the Italian Studies program, in conjunction with the Italian Studies Advisory Council, the Department of Music, and the Department of Theatre Arts. Mike Bankhead, chair of the Department of Music, produced the musical entertainment. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Maria S. Haynes Italian Studies Scholarship fund. For more information, call x5388. For ticket information, see calendar. |
