Fifth Janet Turner National Print Competition Exhibition
The Janet Turner Print Museum, Friends of the Turner Museum, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts/School of the Arts, and the Department of Art and Art History present the Fifth Janet Turner National Print Competition and Exhibition. Works by printmakers are on display through Feb. 29 at the Janet Turner Print Museum, University Art Gallery, 1078 Gallery, and Chico Art Center. "There were 252 artists who submitted more than 800 slides from 42 states for the competition/exhibition," said Catherine Sullivan, Janet Turner Print Museum director. Submitted art pieces are original prints created within the last two years, represent traditional printmaking techniques, and are signed and editioned. Printmaking techniques include woodcut, linocut, lithography, etching, silkscreen, aquatint, spitbite, drypoint, viscosity etching, digital acetate, intaglio, and serigraphy. Awards include one $750 purchase, two $500 purchases, and other cash and merit awards. Purchase award prints become part of the Janet Turner Print Museum's permanent collection. |
