Lester Brown

'Green' Guru Lester Brown to Speak

Lester Brown, founder of the Earth Policy Institute and internationally known expert on environmental issues, will speak Nov. 16 at 7:30 pm in Laxson Auditorium. Brown’s Plan B: Rescuing a Planet Under Stress and a Civilization in Trouble is this year’s Book in Common at CSU, Chico and Butte Community College.

Brown will meet with staff and faculty on Nov. 16 at 4 pm in Trinity 100 to discuss using Plan B in the classroom and how the book can support campus sustainability efforts.

In 1974, Brown founded the Worldwatch Institute, the first research institute devoted to the analysis of global environmental issues. He has authored or co-authored 49 books, which have appeared in 40 languages.

Brown’s lecture is presented by the Office of the Provost and Chico Performances. Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets are available at the University Box Office.
