Mervyn's Presents $10,000 Gift to Career Planning and Placement
Mervyn's recently donated the largest gift ever in the five years
it has been giving to the California State University, Chico Career
Planning and Placement Office. A $10,000 donation will be used to
offset budget cuts over the last three years, within the Career
Planning and Placement Office. The donation will go toward such
operating expenses as training and development, supplies, services,
publications and subscriptions that create more opportunities for
students.
CSU, Chico is Mervyn's number one school in the nation for recruiting
graduates for their entry-level positions. They hire CSU, Chico
students for positions in store management, distribution, assets
protection and corporate buying and analysis.
"Mervyn's cited the donation as a direct tribute to the quality
and number of students they hire from Chico and how much they enjoy
working with this department," said Jamie Starmer, director
of Career Planning and Placement.
Career Planning and Placement maintains one of the strongest and
most respected on-campus corporate recruiting programs on the West
Coast. In a 2004 spring survey of employers, recruiters rated 88
percent of Chico students outstanding or above average compared
to other universities.
