Shapiro & Smith Dance will perform George & Betty’s House Friday,
October 3. The dances are visual tales that delight and intrigue the mind.
Stunning athleticism accentuates this ensemble’s whimsical and innovative
approach to dance. Dance Magazine hails their performances as the perfect
combination of humor, insight, and dramatic tension.
Recent Paintings and Prints by Paul Feldhaus Opening October 13 and continuing through November 13, the Third Floor Gallery, BMU, will present the recent paintings and prints of Professor Emeritus Paul Feldhaus. A public reception will be held on Thursday, October 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the Third Floor Gallery.

Paintings of Jean Gallagher can be seen by appointment at James Snidle Fine Arts, 254 East 4th Street, Chico (343-2930). The show runs through October with an opening reception on Friday, October 3, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Watershed InvestigationsPresented by the Chico Art Center, this show features innovative and surprising treasures captured by aerial photographer Mark Abrahamson. A reception will be held September 19, 7-9 p.m. in the Depot at 5th and Orange Streets. September 19-October 26. Exhibition hours Wed.-Sun. noon-4 p.m.

1997 Janet Turner National Print Competition Since August 25, the Janet Turner Print Gallery has been hosting the second national print competition featuring student productions from around the state. The show is sponsored by the Friends of Janet Turner, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and the Department of Art and Art History and juried by Karl Kasten, an internationally known Berkeley artist. Sept. 4- Oct. 5, Viewing: the Janet Turner Print Gallery in Laxson Auditorium, on the second floor 11 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, and in the University Art Gallery in Taylor Hall, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., M-F.

Timeless Wonders: The Best of America The theme for this year's 13th annual American Visions Photography Competition. Professionals and amateurs capture what America means to them in this statewide contest with a three-person panel that will judge according to category, quality, and relevance. Sept. 12-Oct. 31, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., M-F, Langdon 301.
