A year ago, CSU, Chico's web site was awarded a 3-star rating (on a 4-star scale) by Magellan, The McKinley Group's comprehensive Internet directory of over 1.5 million sites. This review examined depth of content, ease of exploration, and "Net appeal." As good as it was then, our web site has grown considerably in the last year. Much of that growth includes sites of primary interest to faculty and staff. Following is a quick review of several of those sites with more to follow in the next issue of Inside Chico State.
Calendars of Events
www.csuchico.edu/community/calendar.html
This newly updated site contains links to the athletics, arts, student organizations, and campus lectures calendars. A brand new feature is the "What's Booked" link, which provides information about every event scheduled on campus, using the SIS+ data base to provide the browser with a description of the event, its beginning and ending date, the time scheduled and contact phone number, and the location. This data base includes outdoor events as well as events booked in campus rooms, theatres, and lecture halls.
Meriam Library
www.csuchico.edu/library/
Continually upgraded, the library's web site offers campus users access to the Library Catalog; Reference Shelf; Indexes, Journals, and News Services; Government Resources; Electronic Resources; Interlibrary Loan; and information about Library hours, departments, and services. Browsers can access information about acquisitions and collection management, including "How to Place a Library Order." The Interlibrary Loan Book & Other Material Request Form allows the user to fill out a request electronically, saving a trip across campus (especially useful on rainy days).

Accounting, Budgets, Financial Planning, Etc.
Sorry, this isn't a campus outlet of H&R Block -- you'll have to do your own taxes. But if you need the Fiscal Schedule Calendars and Guidelines for your program budget, the Budget and Financial Planning web site (www.csuchico.edu/budgoffice.html) is the place. It also provides links to other informative sites, such as the Lottery Budget, CSU Budget Office, the Legislative Analyst's Office, and other fascinating places. Speaking of fascinating If you've ever wanted direct access to the on-line manual for the campus Charge Authorization System (CAF), you'll find it on the Accounting Office site (www.csuchico.edu/ao/).
Office of Sponsored Projects
www.csuchico.edu/gs/sponsproj.html
These pages include information about the support services offered by the Graduate School for assisting faculty in securing and managing externally funded projects. Services include funding source searches, proposal development, contract review, and project set-up, among others.
Testing and Research
www.csuchico.edu/test/
Faculty can access information about classroom test scoring services and disabled student testing accommodations here. For each test, the user can find a general description and information about what to bring to the test and total testing time. Times, dates, locations, and fees for all the standardized testing on campus (ACT, BCLAD, CBEST, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, TOEFL, WEST, etc.) are also available at this site.

Plant Op
www.csuchico.edu/plop/
Do these folks have the best URL handle or what! But more important, they fix the heating and air conditioning units, move our junk, keep the place looking presentable. To have them do something for you, just fill out the Plant Operation Service Request Form, available at this site.
