The fifth annual Freshman Admission Day was the most successful FAD Day yet with 1122 students enrolled on the spot and 174 enrollments pending for a total of 1296, up 261 or 25 percent from 1996. That increases fall 1998 new freshmen by 150 if the enrollment rate holds.

According to Linda MacMichael, director of Admissions and event organizer, the increased numbers are a result of the 10,000 piece mailing to high school students who had expressed interest in Chico. The mailing was made possible by the development of CSU, Chico’s prospective student data base developed from the contacts made by admissions staff at college fairs throughout California, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon over the past two years. "This project is truly a campuswide effort. A special thanks to all who assisted," said Bob Hannigan, vice provost for Enrollment Management.
