Maxine Bigler, associate director of Migrant Education, sits with some
of the seventy high school students from Tehama, Lassen, Modoc,
Siskiyou, and Shasta Counties who attended one of two Shadow Days on March
18 and 19. After listening to talks by Michael Tokuno, Education
Support Services, Provost Scott McNall, and Bigler, students were matched
with Chico State students with whom they attended classes for the rest of
the day.
Bigler is wearing an official astronaut jump suit, which she received as part of a teachers-training program at the Houston Space Center, to illustrate her talk, "Dreams Really Can Come True." She shared how visiting the space center was the realization of a dream, just as her successful fight with cancer over the last year and one-half, was a result, she believes, of her strong motivation and "dream" to be cancer-free.
