Ed Heeter and Ted Colunga, University Printing Services, demonstrate
a new computerized paper cutter which replaced a twenty-five-year-old
30-inch guillotine paper cutter. It will increase the productivity on large
or complex cutting jobs. Another new machine recently acquired by UPS
is an imagesetter, which replaced a six-year old model. The new
imagesetter produces film output up to 18-inches wide, four pages at a time,
from desktop publishing programs. The film is then used to make
printing plates. New software which came with the imagesetter will allow
greater access and faster turn around for campus departments having jobs
printed at the Print Shop. (Photo DA)
