On Monday, October 5, six $5000 scholarship winners and twenty-seven $500 Presidential Scholarship winners were invited to have lunch with the President, several other administrators, and members of the Presidential Scholars committee.

At the President's table, one student talked about how much harder he seemed to be working than his friend attending Berkeley. Another shared that he already knew most of the other students in GST and his professors. President Esteban said to the students, "People may accuse me, of course, of being prejudiced, but you are going to get the best undergraduate education available at Chico State, bar none."

This is the third group of President's Scholars. The program continues to expand each year as everyone involved experiences the many benefits, both anticipated and unanticipated.

Preparations for the fourth year of the competition are underway. President Esteban said Chico State needs to offer even more and more complete scholarships to attract the best students. "We are working on increasing both the number and the amount of scholarships in the coming years," he said.
