The Waiting Room, directed by CSU, Chico's Gail Holbrook, is a "dark comedy about the timeless
quest for beauty, its costs, and its medical and sexual politics."
Quick plays an eighteenth-century Chinese woman whose feet have been bound causing her toes to fall off; Smith plays a Victorian woman whose corset is causing displacement of her internal organs; and Massie plays a 1990s woman whose breast implants have led to cancer. "During the course of the play, the women address the balance of power between men and women, Eastern and Western cultures, and orthodox and unorthodox medicine," said Holbrook. The show runs from November 10-14, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 15, 2 p.m., Wismer Theatre. (photo Joe Dimaggio)
