Don Sleeper, Facilities Management and Services, reported the following damage from Halloween night:
Large (8'x10') window broken on the south side of library.
Two windows broken along the alleyway on the east side of Ayres.
Aggregate trash container broken in library area and four damaged on campus.
Two large dumpsters of trash removed from campus.
The cost of replacing the library window alone, Sleeper estimated, was at least $600, let alone the other windows and trash containers.
Sleeper said that he believes the damage was most likely not done by Chico State students. "Our students care about the campus. They take pride in its beauty." Sleeper and his staff go to great lengths to maintain the campus at a level that encourages such pride. "I have the staff deal with any graffiti on campus every single night. If it is large and outside, it is power-hosed or painted over. It is removed from all bathrooms. If it can't be cleaned off, we paint over it."
