Carolivia Herron, assistant professor of English, was featured in articles in the New York Times November 24-28, after a New York City school disciplined a teacher who used Herron's book, Nappy Hair, in a third-grade class. Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, ABC, NBC, Court TV, and other media also have interviewed Herron about the controversy.

History Professor Charles Geshekter was quoted in a story in the Nov. 20 Chronicle of Higher Education about university hiring policies in the wake of Proposition 209.

English Professor James Karman was featured in an Oct. 8 Monterey Herald story about the annual Robinson Jeffers Festival in Carmel.
