A prolific writer, Professor Edelman has authored forty papers and three books on the Holocaust, Jewish rhetoric, and Arab-Israeli relations, four new books are scheduled for publication this year. He is perhaps one of the campus's most prolific grant recipients, having been funded for thirty-six different projects over the last sixteen years. His most recent achievement is creating and administering the Modern Jewish and Israel Studies Program on campus, which is now being expanded to several other CSU campuses, via electronic technology.

From workplace violence and workplace depression to organizational benefits of helping domestically abused employees, her ten articles, five proceedings, and seven conference papers have illuminated the shadow side of organizational life. One of these papers, "Stress and Depression in the Workplace: Two Sides of the Same Coin," won special recognition with a Distinguished Paper Award at the 1996 Allied Academies of Management conference. Most currently, Professor Johnson, a 1997-99 CSU, Chico Master Teacher, shared the insights gained in that program with an international conference in Canada.

During the last three years, Professor Kato has collaborated with Dr. Mark Martin, of the Isotope Laboratory at M.I.T., geologists from the Servicio Nacional de Geologia y Mineria de Chile, and the Berkeley Geochronology Laboratory at UC Berkeley on field studies combined with Uranium-Lead and Argon asotopic dating of rocks from South America. This research has culminated in major scientific research papers, including one that has been accepted, pending revision, for publication by Tectonics, one of the leading earth science journals. Professor Kato's scientific presentations were well received at the VIII Chilean Geological Congress in Antofagasta, Chile, in 1997, and International Gondwana Symposium in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1998. These presentations and related papers provide field geological and radiometric age data to support a new model developed by Professor Kato and others for the events along the western margin of Gondwana (the southern part of the large supercontinent on Pangea, which existed until about 200 million years ago) just prior to the separation of South America from Africa.
