Chico Philosophers Place Third in Ethics Bowl

Four philosophy majors, Michael Applegarth, Paula Bodine, Robin Mihm, and Michael Nordlin, tied for third place in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl in Washington, D.C. the last week in February. For the past three years Professor Becky White of the Philosophy Department has groomed students for the Ethics Bowl held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Association for Practical and Applied Ethics in March and accompanied them to Washington for the competition.

This year Professor Terri Elliot, also of the Philosophy Department, assisted White and became the coordinator for the trip when White had to bow out at the last minute. The competition draws teams of undergraduate students from all over the country to compete in a quiz game comprised of ethical issues on a wide range of topics. Students first competed on campus in December to decide which team would represent Chico at the national level.
