Ag Research FundedThe College of Agriculture's share of a $5 million Applied Agricultural Research Initiative became available early this summer. The initiative was a legislature-inspired part of the California State University system's budget $750,000 is available to the College of Agriculture for industry-relevant research. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Fresno State, and Cal Poly Pomona will split the rest of the $5 million. The goal of the initiative is to enhance the ability of the CSU agriculture programs to conduct critically needed applied agricultural research. "The key word in the title of this initiative is 'applied'," said College of Agriculture Dean Charles A. Crabb. "We want to use the money to do industry-driven, applicable research. At the same time we expect to afford our students the opportunity to be involved with cutting edge science in sustainable agricultural and natural resources." -- Jean Nelson, College of Agriculture
