Three Speakers: Sustainable Solutions
The fifth annual This Way to Sustainability Conference hosted by CSU, Chico, The Institute for Sustainable Development, the Associated Students, and Butte College is being held Nov. 5—8.
Professor Lisa Ott and student Tim Shelton, a junior Professional Chemistry major, with beakers of biodiesel. Ott and faculty member John Nishio just received funds from CER for biofuel research.

Eye-Safe Lidar Receives Funding and Finds Home in Chico
Shane D. Mayor, PhD in atmospheric and oceanic sciences, has brought the Raman-shifted Eye-safe Aerosol Lidar (REAL) from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado, to a site at the University Farm. Mayor is a research professor in the departments of Geosciences and Physics.

Team Develops Touchless Tomato Transplanter
Lal Singh, professor emeritus in Agriculture; Joel Arthur, Civil Engineering; Ron Borge, Agricultural Engineering; and Ramesh Varahamurti, Mechatronics, have completed the development of a robot that will transplant tomatoes.
