Along with our Bachelor of Science degree the department offers Minors in Recreation and/or Tourism. We also offer a Master of Arts in Recreation Administration.
Chico is the ideal location for the premiere recreation program in the world. Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Sacramento Valley, Chico is a recreation paradise.
The campus is adjacent to downtown Chico with an abundance of options for shopping and dining as well as countless festivals. Bike lanes and trails are everywhere and Chico is one of the most “bike friendly” cities in America.
Chico’s Bidwell Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the United States with a limitless variety of terrain from grassy fields to rocky cliffs. You cannot help but spend much of your free time exploring the wonders of Bidwell Park.
Within a few hours of Chico are countless opportunities to explore. Whether it is a weekend getaway to the excitement of cities such as Sacramento or San Francisco or a leisurely bike ride between vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, you can easily do this. If you prefer snow skiing at one of Lake Tahoe’s many ski resorts or strolling on the beaches of Northern California or camping at one of the many National and State Parks, you can also easily do this. You will never grow weary of living in Chico and in fact many students find it hard to leave when they graduate.
Graduation is our goal for our students and many companies and organizations seek our graduates to fill their hiring needs and lead them to a bright tomorrow.
I hope to meet you soon and personally welcome you to the Department of Recreation, Hospitality and Parks Management at California State University, Chico!
