Camp Philosophy

The Summer Cats mission is to provide participation-based recreation opportunities for children grades 1-6. Summer Cats strives to help children physically, mentally, and emotionally experience new and exciting activities, people, and environments.

Essential Eligibility Criteria for Participation in the Summer Cats Program:

Campers are expected to contribute to a safe camp environment, using respectful language and age appropriate physical behavior.
Campers are expected to function in a group setting in a positive and cooperative manner that displays tolerance and respect for self and others.
Campers are expected to follow instructions from counselors and refrain from behaviors that pose a risk to self or others.
Campers are expected to maintain a positive attitude when participating in activities with their group.
Campers are expected to navigate through multiple activities on an 8-hour daily basis for our full day camps or a 4-hour daily basis for our half-day camps.

This camp is 42 years young and is focused on recreation participation, not competition. We put emphasis on learning, fun, teamwork, being involved, and having new experiences.

Held in the climbing wall on the Chico State campus, campers in grades 1-6 spend their time learning the basics of rock climbing, bouldering, belaying, knots and trying all levels of routes.

Our summer camp opportunity for our older campers (grades 6-8). This half-day camp will give campers the opportunity to work on their leadership skills, participate in group activities and so much more.

Specifically designed for video game enthusiasts, grades 6-8, who enjoy competitive gaming and have an interest in elevating their skills. Campers will get the opportunity to more about play styles, strategy and technology.

Summer camp focused on recreation participation, not competition, with an emphasis on learning, fun, teamwork, being involved, and having new experiences.
