The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RESP) is organized into three teams that collectively provide services to the campus in support of submitting proposals for external funding and managing the resulting awards.  A general description of the duties of each of these units follows. The Vice Provost for Research serves as the research officer for the University, works with deans and administrators to advance the University's research agenda, and oversees the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

Contracts Unit

Writes, reviews, and negotiates contracts, subcontracts and amendments.

Assists Contracts Officer in preparing, reviewing and processing contracts; provides assistance with grant and contract budget development.

provides project administrative services to Center for Water and the Environment, Rural Northern CA Clinical Simulation Center, all curriculum subject matter projects, Regional and Continuing Education, the School of Social Work, Associated Students and the Children's Learning Center.

Iris Hardman Iris Hardman - Grant/Contract Analyst
Provides project administrative services to a variety of funded projects, in particular, the Anthropology and Archaeology Departments, ATEC, MESA, the National History Museum, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF) projects.
Karen Hansen Karen Hansen - Grant/Contract Analyst
Provides development and project administrative services to a variety of funded projects, in particular, the Agriculture Research Initiative (ARI), the College of Agriculture, the Concrete Industry Management Program (CIMT), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) The Institute for Sustainable Development (TISD), The Northeast Information Center (NEIC) and the Water Lab.

Provides project administrative services for a variety of funded projects including Curriculum Projects, the Autism Clinic, SAP, Student Health Center, U.S. Department of Education and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
Sharon Maligie

Sharon Maligie - Grant/Contract Analyst
Provides project administrative services for a variety of funded projects including the Geographical Information Center (GIC), Four Winds, the California Pavement Preservation Center (CPPC), The Sacramento River Conservation Area Forum (SRCAF/SRMAP) and the Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium (SCNAC).

Brooks O'Brien Brooks O'Brien - Grant/Contract Analyst
Provides project administrative services for a variety of funded projects; in particular the Center for Economic Development (CEDP), Education for the Future (EFF), the Center for Regional and Continuing Education (RCE) and the Nursing Department.


 

Operations

LeRita Ringel LeRita Ringel - Operations/Computer System Manager
Manages the Operations unit and coordinates the technical and clerical aspects of proposal preparation and submission. Responsible for administration and maintenance of RESP's computer system.
Mary Wilby Mary Wilby - Operations Coordinator
Coordinates the clerical support services for the office and supervises student assistants. RESP Webmaster and maintains office Web site.
