Project Director Advisories

9/26/2007 Proposal-Award Deadlines

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RESP) is pleased to report that the number of proposals submitted for external funding continues to grow. During 2005-06, more than 700 proposals were routed through the RESP office. More than 75% of the proposals were successful, one of the highest success rates in the CSU system. Please review the following guidelines on proposal submission. Questions may be directed to RESP at x5700.

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT
AND AWARD ACCEPTANCE DEADLINES

Executive Memorandum 04-04 requires that various campus approvals be secured before proposals can be submitted. In order to provide sufficient time for this approval process, we ask that you notify us as soon as you decide to develop a proposal.

All Foundation Project Directors and those authorized to sign on Foundation Accounts receive announcements via email. If you are no longer a project director and would like your name removed or wish to add administrative staff to the list, please reply to this message with appropriate instructions.

Thank you!

A detailed budget and project narrative should be submitted to RESP no later than 10 working days prior to submission date. We can not guarantee meeting sponsor deadlines when proposals are received with less than 10 days lead time.

EM 04-04 also requires RESP to obtain Principal Investigator (PI) approval and secure original signatures on the blue Proposal Routing Form before an award can be accepted and set-up. When you receive a Blue Routing form, please sign and forward immediately to the next individual in order to ensure timely set-up of the project.

Requests to PIs for award approvals are sent by email. It is extremely important that you respond to these requests as soon as you receive them.
