10.2.2007 - Sexual Harassment Training
To: CSU, Chico Research Foundation Project Directors & Supervisors
FROM: Karen Finley Associate Executive Director/HR Director
In 2004, the State of California passed AB 1825 requiring all employers with 50 or more employees to train supervisors on Sexual Harassment. The law requires supervisors to take this course every two years, and years are designated as training years. The initial training occurred in the fall of 2005. Therefore 2007 is the Foundation’s next designated training year. There are some individuals who may have taken it during 2006 when newly designated as a supervisor. Those individuals will also need to take the training in 2007 in order to get established in the training cycle. You will need to be trained in 2007 regardless of when you were initially trained.
As before, we are utilizing an on-line program called Workplace Answers. This program enables you to receive the training at your desk. It is an interactive program that you may log in and out of until you have completed the program. (A minimum of two hours must be spent on the training, and the program will not certify you as complete until the required time has been spent.)
You may have already received your notification, or may within the next few weeks, via email. You will be receiving an email containing a web link and personalized password to access the training. Please participate in this training as soon as practical, and no later than the end of November. You will periodically receive reminders from Workplace Answers until the training is completed.
• You were previously identified as a supervisor of Foundation employees. If that status has changed and you no longer supervise Foundation employees on a project, please let Jeanny Edaakie in the Foundation Administration office know immediately.
• Every effort will be made to avoid any duplication in training between the CSU, Chico Campus and The Research Foundation. Training taken as a result of your Foundation supervisory responsibilities will also count as training on the State side and vice versa. The campus HR office will have access to our training records as we will theirs to try to eliminate duplication.
We understand that you may believe that this training is too frequent and should not have to occur; however, please understand that compliance is mandated by State law and could have serious repercussions on employers found not to be in compliance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Jeanny Edaakie jedaakie@csuchico.edu or Karen Finley kfinley@csuchico.edu at 530-898-6811.
Thank you.
All Foundation Project Directors and those authorized to sign on Foundation Accounts receive announcements via email. If you are no longer a project director and would like your name removed or wish to add administrative staff to the list, please reply to this message with appropriate instructions.
